10 reasons to switch to eM Client 11 – even if you don’t use AI

Artificial Intelligence received a lot of attention in eM Client 11, and with AI reshaping how we work and communicate, that’s no surprise. But while it can feel like there’s no escaping it these days, eM Client lets you decide how much of it you want, if any at all. If you don't plan to use the AI tools, you might be wondering whether the upgrade is still worth it.

The truth is, eM Client 11 is also full of improvements that do not depend on AI, so you’ll get plenty out of the upgrade even if you plan to keep the AI switch off.

We’ve chosen 10 of those we think you’ll appreciate the most.

10 reasons to switch to eM Client 11 – even if you don’t use AI
  1. New eM Sync service

Setting up eM Client on a new device used to mean a fair amount of hassle, even considering the backup and QR export/import features that made it somewhat manageable – but those were one‑time actions that would need to be repeated.
With eM Sync, your accounts, general settings, signatures, email templates, and Quick Texts follow you across devices. Your data is protected with zero‑knowledge end‑to‑end encryption, so not even we can read it.

  2. MS Graph support

Microsoft began retiring Exchange Web Services (EWS) for Microsoft 365 accounts in October 2026. eM Client 11 connects through the modern Microsoft Graph API instead, so your Microsoft 365 accounts keep working. Personal Microsoft accounts (outlook.com, Hotmail.com, msn, etc.) can switch to Graph too and sync more of your data, such as tags or automatic replies.

If you're upgrading from an older version, eM Client offers the migration the first time you start it.

  3. Brand new rules

Rules have been rebuilt from the ground up. Rules are now created and edited in a single window, with more actions to choose from, so you have all the details of the rules easily accessible. The new rule UI allows for new combinations, including an OR operator between the conditions.
Rules can also run when you archive a message or automatically every 10 minutes, so your mailbox keeps itself tidy in the background.
Not sure where to start? Pick one from the new Rules library and use it as it is or adjust it to fit.

  4. 64-bit and ARM processor support for Windows

eM Client now runs natively on 64‑bit and ARM processors.

    • On 64-bit machines, that means better performance with large mailboxes and many accounts.

    • On ARM devices, eM Client runs smoother and is easier on your battery.

But despite all these new versions, the installer is now a fraction of the size, since the .appinstaller file downloads only what your device needs during installation. Updates work the same way, grabbing just the parts that changed automatically.

  5. Pinning

Some emails need to stay in sight: a flight confirmation, an open contract, the important thread you're trying to keep track of. With the new pin feature, the message stays at the top of the list until you unpin it, however much new mail arrives.
Click the new Pin button in the toolbar, use the Ctrl + Shift + P keyboard shortcut, or right‑click the message and select “Pin”.
Pins also synchronize with Exchange accounts and with IMAP servers that support custom flags, so you’ll see the same messages pinned on your other devices.

  6. Custom notifications and new settings

Notifications in eM Client 11 don’t just tell you what’s new – they help you handle it on the spot.
The new customization options let you add up to 5 action buttons to an email alert (including your own Quick Actions), group multiple new emails into a single notification, and turn off notifications for categories you don’t care about, like newsletters or social media.

The redesigned Settings > Notifications section also makes it easier to adjust all your alerts. You can manage notifications for every item type in one place, choose whether each one plays a sound or just shows a pop‑up, and find per‑account notification settings much more easily than before. Color‑coded checkboxes show at a glance which options follow the default and which have been changed.

  7. Multiple reminders for events and tasks

One reminder is rarely enough for things that matter. You can now add as many reminders as you need to any event or task: a day before to prepare, an hour before to wrap up, and 10 minutes before to head out the door.

  8. Account selection for Global folders

Global folders like All Inboxes or Unread show mail from all your accounts in one place, but you might not want it to include every single one of your accounts. Right-click a global folder and choose which accounts it includes. Keep only your most important accounts in All Inboxes and check the rest in their own inbox folders whenever you like.

  9. Command Palette

If you prefer the keyboard to the mouse, you'll love this one. Press Ctrl + K (Windows) or Cmd + K (macOS) and the whole app is at your fingertips: mark messages as read, run rules manually, check for updates, adjust your settings, and much more. It’s a true command center for virtually everything eM Client can do.

  10. Profile colors and easier profile switching

If you keep separate profiles for work and personal use, you'll always know which one you're in. Assign each profile a color in Settings > General > Profiles, and it shows in the top bar. To switch or manage profiles, click the profile icon in the upper right corner.

And there's more

Those are our top 10 picks, but the list of non‑AI improvements goes on. You can now give each account its own color, save replies in the same folder as the original message, and automatically create numbered or bulleted lists just by typing "1." or "-". The calendar shows multiple time zones, which makes scheduling across regions much easier. You can add a Matrix account to chat in public and private rooms with end‑to‑end encryption and customize the message detail toolbar with the actions you use most. Under the hood, a new Chromium render core makes eM Client faster and more stable, especially with complex messages.

Mac users get two extra reasons to upgrade. AppleScript support lets you include eM Client in your own scripts in Script Editor or Script Debugger, from browsing accounts and folders to composing and sending messages with attachments. And with macOS Spotlight support, you can find your emails, events, contacts, tasks, notes, and attachments straight from Spotlight search.
