eM Client includes Model Context Protocol (MCP) support, which allows compatible AI
agents and other third-party applications to connect to a running eM Client and work with your data.
Any tool that supports connection to MCP server via stdio can take advantage of accessing eM Client's data.
What is MCP?
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a standard that allows external applications and AI agents to connect to software and interact with its data and features. Think of it as a common language that lets compatible apps communicate with eM Client.
What can MCP do in eM Client?
MCP currently supports a wide range of email and mailbox operations, including:

Accounts and folders - view your email accounts and folders, create, rename, move, copy, or delete folders, and check folder message and unread counts.

Search - search for emails and conversations across your accounts and folders, including messages within a specific conversation.

Read email content - retrieve email and conversation details, including message bodies, headers, tags, and attachment content.

Work with emails - move or copy individual emails or entire conversations, mark messages as read or unread, flag them, and modify tags.

Create and send messages - create new emails, replies, and forwards, and optionally send them.

Delete messages - move emails or conversations to Trash or permanently delete them, including emptying the Trash or Spam folders.

Display messages in eM Client - open a specific email or conversation directly in the eM Client interface.
eM Client provides information describing each available operation, including whether an action can modify or permanently delete data. This helps connected apps and AI agents understand what an operation does and whether it may have a destructive effect.
MCP currently supports email and mailbox operations. Support for other areas of eM Client, such as Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes, is planned for future updates.
Please note: MCP support is still under development and does not currently cover every feature or operation available in eM Client, which has evolved over many years and includes a very large number of features and possible operations. Since each property needs to be exposed to MCP individually, this will take time. We have created a curated list of most essential tools and will continue expanding MCP support continually.
How to enable MCP access
You can enable MCP access in Settings > Artificial Intelligence > MCP.
The MCP integration uses a local connection, so eM Client must be running while an external application is connected to it. If you close eM Client completely, MCP access will no longer be available.
Who can use MCP?
MCP access is available to users with a paid eM Client license.
