Why is Gmail slow or not downloading all data?
[THROTTLED]

If Gmail appears slow or stops synchronizing, your account may have reached Gmail’s synchronization (bandwidth) limits.

In the log, the errors will look like this:

OK Success [THROTTLED]
OK SEARCH completed (Success) [THROTTLED]

These limits are enforced by Google and apply to third-party applications, including eM Client. When the limit is reached, Gmail may temporarily slow down or pause synchronization.
Because this restriction is controlled by Google, we cannot override or remove it.

What you can do is reduce the amount of data being synchronized at once.

  1. Disable download for offline use

    In the desktop app

    • Go to Menu > Accounts (Windows) or eM Client > Accounts (macOS)

    • Select your Gmail account

    • Open the IMAP tab

    • Scroll down to Sync Options and uncheck “Automatically download messages for offline use and search”

    In the mobile app

    • Go to Settings

    • Select your Gmail account

    • Scroll down to Services and tap the IMAP option

    • Under Sync Options toggle off the “Download messages for offline use and to search in message bodies”

  2. Or limit the amount of downloaded data:

In the same section as above, scroll down to Sync Options and change Message sync time period from All Time to a shorter period (like past month/year/etc.)

If you need your mailbox downloaded and synchronized locally, using a shorter sync interval can reduce the amount of data requested and help synchronization complete more reliably.

Unfortunately, even after making these changes, you might need to wait for Google to release the limitations on your account before everything begins synchronizing again. A suspension typically lasts for 1 hour, but can last up to 24 hours.
