Facebook Chat API support has been shutdown

You may have noticed we have removed the facebook chat feature out of the application in one of the recent updates. Since we also quite liked this feature, we just wanted to let you know this is not what we would prefer, but unfortunately facebook has decided to shutdown support for the XMPP protocol and the chat API.

facebook has shutdown support for chat

This unfortunately left us no other option than to remove the feature from our application, you may remember that we already had to do this with the Skype support in the past.

Facebook chat features are currently only supported via facebook native apps, e.g. Messenger or the native web browser UI. And as of today, it is no longer possible to use the chat API with third party applications.

eM Client now features OAuth authentication with Gmail

Remember how you were forced to use the two step verification option or to allow access for “Less secure apps” while setting up eM Client with your Gmail account?

As of today you can update your eM Client to the latest release which from now on supports the OAuth authentication method that will allow you to authenticate with your Google account without any prior account adjustments and will increase the security of your account.

transfer-all-data

OAuth is the authentication standard that allows applications to reach out to your server for an authentication “Token”, that will be serving as the access key between your mail server and the application. This feature also allows you to manage the connected devices remotely, just by logging into your account settings online.

Since Google has decided to shut down support for the less secure apps, on April 30th make sure to update your application soon to avoid any future authentication issues.

Download the update here or by using the "Check for Update" option under Help in your eM Client installation.

eM Client's Ability for Touch Support

The newest computers on the market today aren't like the ones you could buy a year or two ago. You no longer need to just use the keyboard, trackpad and mouse. You have the whole Internet at your fingertips - literally.

With eM Client's touch support feature, you will be able to manage your emails with the tips of your fingers. To turn on touch support, all you have to do is look to the upper right hand corner of your computer's screen. Next to the icons for closing the email client and maximizing the window, you will see a hand type of icon. That is the one you want to push on your screen. When you do this, you'll receive a notification that will ask you if you want to turn on touch support. At that time, you can say yes, and you will see the email client change. Your inbox list will have more room and the icon for navigation will be more spread apart. Why does this happen? It's simply to make it easier for you to use your fingers.

When you click on an icon, you should see that the response is just as fast as it would be if you used your trackpad or mouse. It might be even faster because you don't have to deal with a trackpad that doesn't follow your finger as quickly or accurately. Before you know it, you'll likely start to using the touch screen more than you ever have before just because it's more user friendly and faster.

With touch support, you can even write emails. You will see the touch keyboard at the bottom of the screen. When you have that on the bottom of your screen, you can just tap the letters to write your email. You might need to get used to typing this way, but you can get to the speed you are at on your keyboard with time.

How to Turn Touch Support Off

You can turn touch support off easily by tapping the same icon you did to turn it on. It will ask you if you want to turn it off, and all you have to do is select yes. Now the touch support is off. You can turn it on again by tapping the same icon again.

Now that you know how useful touch support can be with eM Client, go ahead and download it on our site at www.emclient.com. You will see that it's convenient and it truly is the best email client on the market today.

Sending Emails to Groups of People with Undisclosed Recipients

When sending bulk emails, you don't want everyone in the list to see who you are sending them to. Some people don't appreciate their email being shared, and the other reason is that it's unprofessional. Some people think the only way to solve this problem is to send an individual email to each person, but that takes too long. Fortunately, there is an easier way with eM Client.

You have two ways to do it with eM Client. You can use the Send as Mass Mail feature or use the BCC undisclosed recipients.

Send as Mass Email Feature

You can simply type in all of the email addresses you want to send the email to in the To: field. Once you do that, you can complete the subject and body of the email. To send it to everyone in the To: field without letting other people know of the others who received the same email, simply go to File at the top of the screen. Click on it and then click on Send as Mass Mail. Your email will be sent to everyone in the To: field, and it will appear to the recipient as if you only sent one to him or her.

If, for whatever reason, you don't want to use the Mass Email Feature, you can also use the BCC undisclosed recipients option.

BCC – Undisclosed Recipients

The first thing you must do is start a new email. Create the email and then start to input the email addresses you want to send it to in the BCC.

The BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. That means no one can see who the email is going to.

When you send the message, it will be sent to all of the people in your BCC. You should receive the same email in your inbox as well. This is because you put your email address in the To: field.

Warning: Spam Filters

Many spam filters will not allow emails to pass into an inbox if it has Undisclosed Recipients in the To: field. Just keep this in mind as you send emails out, especially to those who you don't email regularly.

You can avoid this from happening by having everyone you are sending an email to in this way whitelist your email address. This way it won't be caught by the spam filter.

Start Sending Bulk Emails Today

Now you know how to send bulk emails with Undisclosed Recipients. Start sending them today. You will find it's much faster and it will do the job of sending information to many people without giving away everyone's personal email information. It will be your new favorite trick while using eM Client.

Adjusting the Confirmations for eM Client Activities

When you go to delete an email, do you appreciate it when your program asks you if you are really sure you want to delete it? When you want to move a message, do you like that it confirms you want to move it to a specific folder? If so, you're probably okay with the default settings on eM Client for confirmations. If you don't want to be asked these questions, it might be a good idea to keep reading.

eM Client wants to make sure you are completely satisfied with what you're doing on your email program. Some people enjoy being asked questions, while others just want to have the task completed as soon as they hit the button. It's a personal option. For those of you who want to make changes to the confirmations in your eM Client program, you can do so easily by going to Settings.

Settings is found under Tools. When you click on Settings, a window comes up. On the left hand side of that window, you will see an option for Confirmations. When you click on that, you will see a list of available confirmations and then boxes next to each task.

When you check the box, you are saying you want that specific confirmation made. For example, the first one says, "Ask before deleting folder". If you want the program to ask you if you really want to delete a folder when you click on the "x" for deleting, you should check this box. If you don't want it to ask you, uncheck the box.

You can move down the list pretty quickly checking and unchecking the things that you would like the program to check with you on. When you get to the bottom, you'll see a different option for moving your junk mail. When you move your junk mail, you have a few options such as always ask you what you want to do. This is if you usually want to do something different to each one. Another junk mail option is to send it right to your junk mail folder and blacklist the email. The other option is to put the email in your junk folder and blacklist the domain. People blacklist emails when they don't receive much spam from that particular sender; however, those that receive a great deal of spam from a domain will want to choose the blacklist domain options. This ensures you don't receive any other emails from a sender that has the domain.

After you're done selecting the options, click on Apply and OK. You are all set. You will now be reminded or not reminded for the activities you chose.

If you don't have eM Client yet, go to the site to download today. It's completely free for personal use (up to two email accounts), and we have a low price for those that need more than two accounts. Let us know if you have any questions.
